Bribe, a reward promised or given to a person in order to corrupt his or her judgment or conduct. Bribery is the crime of offering, giving, or accepting a bribe. Public officials are sometimes bribed to grant favors or to permit the violation of law. Other persons who are sometimes offered bribes include voters, witnesses in courts, judges, jury members, labor union officials, employees, and athletes.
