Laboratory School, an elementary or secondary school that emphasizes the trying out of new teaching methods and materials. It may also be called experimental school. A laboratory school usually serves as an observation, practice, or training school for a teachers college or other teacher-training institution and as a place where educational research is conducted regularly. Laboratory schools are often located on university or college campuses. They may be publicly or privately controlled. Many widely used educational practices were first tried out in laboratory schools.
