A Heavenly Angels Quiz

An archangel is a sort of "chief angel," one who has authority over other angels.

Angels don't exist in all places at once; that is a power only God has. Instead, they are limited to one location at a time, and have to travel to deliver their important messages to humans. Angels also don't have the power to answer prayers and should not be prayed to; they simply do God's bidding.

The existence of so-called "guardian angels" is hotly debated in religious circles. Although the Bible indicates that angels are sent sometimes to protect specific people, it's not clear that everyone has a personal angel assigned to them at all times.

Angels are featured in many religions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Zoroastrianism.

Although the actual term doesn't appear in the literature for the main monotheistic religions (Christianity, Islam and Judaism), their holy books describe a fallen angel as one who has been cast out of heaven, usually for rebelling against God. These angels tempt humans to sin. Satan is identified as a fallen angel.

Angels were traditionally not given specific gender attributes until the 19th century, since it was believed that angels were spiritual beings and therefore genderless. Later art might portray an angel as male or female (for instance with breasts.)
