Perhaps you've heard of America's new President. His name is . He made quite a few promises about the environment that have excited greensters on both sides of the aisle. He even wants part of his economic stimulus package to be invested in creating sustainable energy. Can he do it? Will he be able to keep his environmental promises? Only time will tell.

One way to get time to tell is by keeping track of all the environmental and political news that comes out. Here are some great sites to help you keep track of Obama's environmental policy progress.

1. The Huffington Post

The Huffington Post is one of the most widely read blogs on the internet. Somehow they manage to cover almost every subject and do it well. The Huffington Post was featured in first annual blog index and is considered one of the best political blogs around. And, if that's not enough, their green section makes top environmental blog lists all over the internet. There is no greater marriage between politics and environmental news than the Huffington Post.

2. Grist

Grist is an online environmental source for green journalism with a sense of humor. They cover environmental politics. Conveniently enough, they even have a Barack Obama tab so you can track the president's efforts to move his environmental plan forward.

3. Treehugger

FULL DISCLOSURE: Treehugger is owned by Discovery which also owns Planet Green. I'll keep it brief as to not sound like a commercial. Treehugger is a pretty good source for environmental news and politics. But you don't have to take my word for it.

4. 538.com

Nate Silver's 538.com may seem like a blog for math geeks who like crunching polling numbers, but it has gained a great deal of popularity during the election season with no signs of slowing down. The well-written articles go far beyond the statistical analysis and are often quirky, intelligent and funny. And with posts like "On Stimulus, It's Easy Being Green" and "Mommy, What's an Environmentalist?" you are sure to find plenty more information on Obama's environmental policy progress.

5. [b]The Daily Green[\b]

The daily green is a big, big environmental news magazine. It contains tips, surveys and plenty of political information about Barack Obama and his policies. Just type Barack Obama's name into the search bar and you'll find a whole cache of environmental and political information.

6. World Changing

WorldChanging: One of the 100 best blogs. A Webby Honoree. Part of Guardian Environment Network. This blog has it all. They are devoted to building a better future. This is another blog that does a great job of combining environmentalism and politics.

Make sure to set up RSS feeds for any or all of these so you can quickly scroll through the top green/politics stories too.
