There are certain things that'll probably be on most people's minds on Election Day this November-the battleground state exit polls, the potentially record-high voter turnout, the cable news pundit-frenzy, their firmly crossed fingers for their candidate of choice, etc-but there's one thing most people won't be thinking about. And that's the massive simultaneous exodus of cars from garages and parking lots to the polling places around the country.
Yet someone has indeed been thinking about exactly that: Zimride and Live Earth. The companies have joined forces to promote an environmentally friendly agenda on Election Day?carpooling. It's called, aptly enough, the Carpool to the Polls Initiative, and it's a simple Facebook program design to organize ridesharing on Election Day. It's incredibly easy to use-you just log on to your Facebook account and either post a ride if you plan on driving, or scan your friends and family to see who might be able to pick you up.
Don't have Facebook? There are plenty of other ways to organize a carpool online, too. But if you do, go ahead and log on, and arrange a green way to vote today.
