It's no secret that an awful lot of things we do during and after weddings are more the products of advertising than actual tradition. If you're from the deep South, or the deep North, you've probably been made fully aware of how your great-grandmother did everything at her wedding. But for those who aren't living in the same town where their great-grandparents wed, the distinctions are a little tougher to identify. See if you can sort out the long-held traditions from the recent marketing innovations. In this case, we'll count anything that pre-dates the Civil War as a real tradition.
